My Favorite Part of Camping Happens Before Sunrise
I love camping.
I love getting back to nature, finding a little peace and quiet in the woods, and escaping the hustle and bustle of the everyday grind. I love kicking off my shoes and feeling the earth beneath my bare feet. Grounding, I think they call it these days! lol
But as much as I love ALL of that, there's one part of camping that I enjoy more than anything else.
Early mornings in camp.
There's just something magical about getting up before the sun rises, stepping out into the cool morning air, and coaxing last night's coals back to life for this morning's fire.
It's that quiet time when it seems like the entire world is still asleep. Just you, a few insects, and maybe an owl or two calling somewhere off in the distance.
The smell of campfire smoke mixing with that intoxicating aroma of fresh coffee drifting through camp.
Man, there's nothing quite like it!
I love sitting there watching the world slowly wake up. The darkness begins to fade, turning from black to gray as the first hints of daylight creep into the eastern sky.
Sometimes there's a blanket of fog hanging over the lake or river. Other mornings, it's settled thick between the trees, giving the forest that eerie, almost mysterious appearance.
And then, little by little, the woods begin to come alive.
The birds start singing their morning songs. You hear something rustling in the leaves nearby. Maybe you'll catch a glimpse of a deer quietly easing through the woods looking for breakfast. Or, if you're really lucky, a mama bear wandering through with her cubs.
It's like having a front-row seat to the world waking up.
And the best part? It's a brand-new day, full of possibilities.
Then comes that first sip of coffee.
Ahhhhh... THAT'S GOOD!!!
The nectar of the gods! That warm cup of happiness that gives you just enough energy to get the day started.
But not just yet! lol
There's no need to rush things.
The gray morning slowly brightens as the sun begins peeking over the horizon. And if you're camping deep in the woods, you've got a little extra time before those first rays finally make their way over the treetops.
SCORE! A few more minutes of peace and quiet! lol
Eventually, the sun climbs high enough to light up the campsite. The world is awake, the day is calling, and it's time to get moving.
But those quiet moments before sunrise?
Those are mine.
No schedules, no distractions, no demands. Just the fire, the coffee, and the sounds of nature coming to life.
I love camping. I love the adventures, the people, the places, and the memories that come with it.
But if you ask me what my favorite part of camping is, I'll tell you without hesitation.
It's those early mornings, before the rest of the world wakes up.
What about you? What's YOUR favorite part of camping?
Until next time...
