Getting separated can feel scary. S.T.A.Y. gives kids four easy things to remember that can help them stay calm, stay visible, and help rescuers find them.

As soon as you realize you're lost, stop moving. Staying in one place makes it easier for the people looking for you to find you.

Slow down and breathe. Being scared is normal, but a few calm breaths help your brain think about what to do next.

Make yourself big and easy to see! Wave your arms, move around in place, and wave something bright like an orange bandana.

Make noise! Yell for help or blow your whistle in short bursts so searchers can hear where you are.

S.T.A.Y. isn't meant to turn kids into survival experts or make them afraid of the woods. It's designed to give children a few simple actions they can remember if they become separated outdoors. Practice the steps together before an adventure, make sure kids carry a whistle and something bright, and remind them that if they get lost, people will be looking for them.
